Your turn. Draw a tile.

Step 1 of 3

Remind me — what counts as a set?
  • A chow: three in a row, inside one suit.

  • A pung: three copies of the same tile.

  • A kong: all four copies, still counting as one set.

A winning hand is four sets and a pair.

In this lesson: How to tell which of your tiles are already working together and which are on their own.

Reading a hand means sorting it in your head. Some tiles are working with each other. Some are on their own. Telling the two apart is the whole skill.
